The game is similar to Texas Holdem with some differences and we’re going to look at exactly how to play Omaha Poker.
Just like in Texas Holdem, Omaha uses a fifty-two card deck and also utilizes a dealer button. The dealer button will start with the player in seat one which is the seat to the left of the dealer. Every hand the dealer button is moved one spot to the left so that everyone gets an equal amount of turns as the dealer. Having the dealer button gives you the benefit of acting last in the hand which is a huge advantage.
Two players sitting to the left of the www.PokerStar.net dealer button will need to put in two small bets known as the small blind and big blind before the cards are dealt. This is another reason why the dealer button moves every hand, because if it didn’t the same players would be paying the forced bets every hand and that wouldn’t be very fair. Once the players put in the forced bets the dealer will deal everyone four cards face down starting with the player who put in the small blind.
Once the four cards have been dealt out to the players there is a round of betting. After the round of betting the players left in the pot will get to see the flop which is three community cards everyone can use to make there hand better. At this point players will engage in another round of betting and once finished the dealer will reveal the turn card. Player’s then engage in another round of betting and then the dealer places the last community card on the board which is called the river card. The players who remain in the pot will complete one last round of betting and then reveal there hands.
Players can only use two cards from there four cards and three cards from the community cards without any exceptions. You make the best possible poker hand using the five cards and then the player with the best hand will win the pot. If you’re playing Omaha Hi/Lo then the rules are the same except for one slight change which is important. In Omaha Hi/Lo on Betfair.com there can be a winning high hand and low hand. In order for a low hand to be achieved a player needs any five low cards without any duplicates ranging from Ace-8. For example if you have a 8-6-3-2-A then you would have a low hand. Also you can use 2 cards for your high hand from your hand and then use your other 2 cards for your low hand if you wish.
